EMBERLINE

September 19–20, 2026 · The Quarry

EMBERLINE

Two nights of sound, talks, and light. One quarry. One stage. Dusk until the stone goes quiet.

It is happening now.

The Quarry, Redrock, Arizona · Gates 5:00 PM · First talk 6:30 PM

The gathering

A weekend in the stone.

Emberline is a two-night festival cut into a working quarry outside Redrock. Talks at dusk, music after dark, light against the cliffs until morning. No second stage, no sprawl, no sponsor wall on the rim.

Capacity is the point. The bowl holds a thousand people if we are careful, and we are. Bring a jacket. The desert drops fast after the last set.

Voices

Six people who work in the dark on purpose.

  • Jules Okonkwo

    Lighting designer, Studio Umbra

Builds night as a material — wash, cut, and afterimage — for stages that refuse a black box.

  • Maya Chen

    Festival director

Runs Emberline from a folding table and a radio. Wants fewer stages, longer nights, and no branding on the cliffs.

  • Samir Rao

    Field recordist & composer

Collects quarry wind, insect beds, and distant freight. Turns them into scores you feel in the ribs.

  • Ada Voss

    Architect, Night Cities Lab

Designs public rooms that work after dark: plazas, pools, and the quiet edges of a crowd.

  • Kenji Mora

    Live electronics, Northroom

Two decks, no laptop theatrics. Low-end that sits in the stone and does not rush.

  • Lila Hart

    Curator, Desert Light Fund

Commissions work that has to survive dust, heat, and a thousand phone cameras — then still look like itself.

Ground

The Quarry, Redrock.

A worked-out sandstone pit twenty minutes north of town. One road in, one gate, camping on the south rim. Phones work if you stand still. Shade is scarce — the grove is the only guaranteed cover.

The Bowl

Main stage cut into the quarry floor. Standing room.

RSVP
